Office of President-Elect (two candidates):

Terri L. Miller, MSN, RN, NE-BC
Patient Care Director
New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center

Terri Miller is an accomplished, compassionate, board-certified nurse leader with 15 years of nursing experience, which includes 13 years of leadership experience. Her colleagues describe her as an energetic, purposeful leader with the ability to involve, motivate, and empower nursing teams to work collaboratively. Terri’s leadership experience includes a proven record and focus on patient safety, patient education, continuous quality improvement, team dynamics and conflict resolution. Terri is the current chair of the Membership Committee of the Greater New York region of NYONEL.

Terri began her nursing career as a Registered Nurse in Jacksonville, FL. The hospital and academic organizations where her nursing leadership experiences were honed include the University of Florida Health Jacksonville, Florida State College at Jacksonville, the Mount Sinai Hospital, and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Terri received her undergraduate and graduate nursing degrees from Florida State College at Jacksonville and Kaplan University.

On a personal note, Terri is enthusiastic about networking and mentoring new and seasoned nurses. Two of her favorite leadership inspirational quotes are – “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” -John Quincy Adams & “The growth and development of people is the highest calling of leadership.” -Harvey S. Firestone. She is an avid reader and loves to travel.

 

Kimberly F. Volpe, DNP, RN, NEA-BC
Senior Director of Acute Care Nursing
NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital

Kimberly F. Volpe is the Senior Director of Acute Care Nursing at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital where she is responsible for directing nursing practice and patient care in the orthopedic acute care service. Her primary responsibility is to the lead the staff in the delivery of outcome based high quality nursing care.

Dr. Volpe graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Montclair State University and  a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ramapo College/UMDNJ. She is a graduate of the Master’s Program in Nursing Administration at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing where she was recognized as the Distinguished Student in 2012. Most recently, she received a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Villanova University and maintains certification as an advanced nurse executive.

Dr. Volpe is recognized as a transformational leader and recently presented at the ANCC Magnet Conference on the role of the nurse manager in “Transforming a Surgical Unit”

Dr. Volpe precepts students in the Nursing Administration graduate program, the Doctor of Nursing Practice at NYU Rory Meyers and teaches in the classroom as well. Most recently she received the “NYU Nursing Administration Preceptor of the Year Award”. She is an active member of Greater New York, Nassau, Suffolk Organization of Nurse Executives and Leaders and serves as the 2019-2020 Program Chair. In recognition of her dedication to nursing leadership she awarded the NYONEL Nurse Leader of the Year.

Office of Treasurer (two candidates):

Eve Dorfman MA, RN, NEA-BC
Vice President for Operations
NYU Langone Hospital Long Island

Eve is excited at the opportunity to continue to serve in the capacity of treasurer of GNYNSONEL.  It has truly been an honor and privilege to work with leaders across the greater New York area to support the mission and vision of this incredible organization.  During her tenure in the past two years as the treasurer for GNYNSONEL she has been instrumental in the creation of two academic scholarships for GNYNSONEL members and in the creation of an investment account for organizational funds to support organizational events and scholarship.  Her hope is to continue to work on innovative and creative strategies to support the mission of GNYNSONEL and NYONEL.

Eve has held many diverse roles in nursing and leadership throughout my twenty-five year career.   In my current role as vice president for operations at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island, she oversees home health services, dialysis services, respiratory therapy, hospital medicine services, and biomedical engineering.  Previously, she held the role of senior director for home health services and administrator for nursing systems at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island. 

Eve holds a baccalaureate degree in nursing from Stony Brook University, and bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Binghamton University, a master’s degree in nursing informatics from New York University, a post-master’s certificate in nursing administration from Villanova University and am currently pursuing a doctor of nursing practice in transformative leadership systems through Rush University.  She also hold a certification as an advanced nurse executive through the American Nurse Credentialing Center.

 

Frank Druse III, Ph.D.(c), MSN, MHA, RN, CEN, CPEN, CMSRN, NEA-BC
Education and Training Coordinator
TriService Nursing Research Program

Frank Druse III, Ph.D.(c), MSN, MHA, RN, CEN, CPEN, CMSRN, NEA-BC works fulltime for TriService Nursing Research Program, a congressionally funded nursing research program for all three branches of the military, as the Education and Training Coordinator. Frank holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing, Masters in Healthcare Administration, and is completing his Doctorate of Philosophy in Nursing with a scheduled defense on 10/21/2021. His research focused on the lived experience of new graduate nurses entering the nursing profession during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Frank has held various roles from bedside nurse to a nursing administrator. Frank maintains certification in the following areas: Certified Emergency Nurse, Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse, Certified Medical-Surgical Nurse, and Nurse Executive Advanced-Board Certification. His scholarship projects include; An Appreciative Inquiry about Elderly Female Compliance with Cardiac Rehabilitation, The Power of Choice and Nutrition in Preventing Violence among Inpatient Psychiatric Patients in a Safety Net Hospital, and the Impact of Continuity of Care on Patient Sensitive Outcomes. Frank has led the successful integration of various data and educational technology system projects.
